New Round of Gaza Ceasefire Talks Begin in Doha, Says Hamas Official

CAIRO — A new round of ceasefire negotiations between Hamas and Israel has begun in Doha, Qatar, a senior Hamas official confirmed on Saturday.

Taher al-Nono, speaking to Reuters, said the discussions were taking place without any “pre-conditions,” and emphasized Hamas’s willingness to support mediation efforts. “Hamas is keen to exert all the effort needed to assist mediators in making the negotiations succeed,” he said, adding that “no certain offer is currently on the table.”

The renewed diplomatic engagement comes as Israel prepares to expand military operations in parts of the Gaza Strip in a bid to achieve “operational control” over key areas in the war-torn enclave.

These developments follow U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent tour of the Middle East, which concluded without any significant progress toward a truce. Trump did, however, acknowledge the growing hunger crisis in Gaza and stressed the need to boost humanitarian aid deliveries.
