IHH Healthcare to Cut About 380 Jobs in Business Support Consolidation

SINGAPORE — IHH Healthcare said on Nov 4 that close to 400 employees will leave the organisation as it consolidates business support services across Singapore, Hong Kong and Malaysia.

The healthcare group said about 0.5% of its 76,000-strong workforce, or roughly 380 employees, will transition out, while others will move into redesigned roles. Clinical services, healthcare professionals and patient-facing teams are not affected, and IHH said patients will continue to receive the same quality of care.

The changes involve voluntary separation offers and other employment separations, according to an IHH spokesperson, who declined to provide further details citing employee privacy. The company operates 190 healthcare facilities across 10 countries, including hospitals under the Parkway, Gleneagles and Mount Elizabeth brands in Singapore.

IHH said the consolidation is part of its transformation to improve consistency, efficiency and scalability, following its June announcement of a new enterprise resource planning system. Group CEO Prem Kumar Nair said the healthcare landscape has become more complex due to technological advances, rising healthcare needs and changing patient expectations.

Affected employees will receive support beyond local statutory requirements, including enhanced severance packages, career transition and outplacement services, and a confidential feedback channel. The Singapore Manual & Mercantile Workers’ Union said it was informed in advance and is working with IHH to ensure fair severance and support for affected workers, including job matching, career coaching and skills-upgrading assistance.
