Rubio to Visit Iceland, Greece and Portugal for Security and Economic Talks

WASHINGTON — US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will travel to Iceland, Greece and Portugal next week for talks focused on economic and security cooperation, the State Department said in a statement on Thursday.  Rubio’s trip, scheduled for October 5–8, will begin in Reykjavik with discussions with Icelandic officials on “economic and security collaboration,” according to the statement.

From Iceland, he will fly to Athens to lead the US delegation at the sixth session of the US–Greece Strategic Dialogue, a high-level forum aimed at deepening cooperation on defense, energy, regional security and other areas.  The tour will conclude in Lisbon, where Rubio is set to hold talks with Portuguese officials to “advance defense, economic and technology cooperation,” the State Department said.
