KUALA LUMPUR – Imported Irish galloper Jinling Starblitz claimed a second consecutive victory in Malaysia, delivering a composed performance to win the RM50,000 ($16,000) Open Maiden race over 1,400m at Sungai Besi on May 3.
Ridden by regular jockey Benny Woodworth, the four-year-old Inns Of Court gelding – previously raced as No Such Thing in Ireland – broke sharply from the gates and settled fourth early behind pacemaker Winning Done. Trained by ex-Macau handler Ricky Choi Chun Wai, Jinling Starblitz ($8) advanced smoothly to challenge Solidasarock at the 1,000m mark, then surged clear in the final 100m to beat Pacific Fighter by three-quarters of a length, with Solidasarock third.
Previously erratic in his April 12 debut win over 1,250m against Aquitaine, the Royal Apex Stables-owned runner showed marked improvement, racing more generously despite a wide turn. Choi praised the gelding’s adaptation since arriving in November 2025, noting eight trainer wins this season, while Woodworth highlighted his strong finishing effort.
Jinling Starblitz, consistent but winless in 11 Irish starts under Ross O’Sullivan, has quickly thrived in his new environment following a promising barrier trial. The victory came in the fourth race of a 10-race card, which was cut short by heavy rain.
