Thailand’s Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow acknowledged Cambodia’s right to push talks but cited domestic procedures post-new government formation, delaying immediate engagement.
Rooted in French colonial demarcations, the rift saw fierce fighting in July and December last year. Phnom Penh accuses Bangkok of truce breaches, including Thai forces seizing border areas in Cambodian provinces despite agreements. Both nations trade violation claims, testing the fragile truce amid Southeast Asia’s fragile stability.
