Iran Urges Immediate Halt to US-Israeli ‘Aggression’ in Call with Modi, Pushes BRICS Role

NEW DELHI – Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian demanded an “immediate cessation” of what he labeled US-Israeli aggression to end the ongoing war and broader regional turmoil, according to Iran’s embassy in India via an X post on March 21. Speaking by phone with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier that day, Pezeshkian stressed the need for firm guarantees against future such actions.

Pezeshkian urged the BRICS bloc of emerging economies to step up independently in stopping attacks on Iran. He floated a bold idea for a West Asian regional security framework, free from foreign meddling, to lock in lasting peace.

In response, Modi condemned strikes on critical Middle East infrastructure during their discussion, as noted in his own X post. The Indian leader underscored protecting freedom of navigation and keeping vital shipping lanes safe and open amid escalating tensions.
