UK Ramps Up Gulf Evacuations with Charter Flight from Oman

LONDON – Britain is boosting airline capacity from Muscat, Oman, to evacuate vulnerable nationals amid rising Gulf tensions, Foreign Minister Yvette Cooper told parliament Tuesday, coordinating closely with regional counterparts.

With 130,000 British citizens registered across Gulf states, Cooper prioritized the most at-risk in outbound flights. A government-chartered plane will depart Muscat in coming days, contacting eligible nationals directly via the Foreign Office; others must await outreach.

British Airways, part of IAG, confirmed it will run the service Thursday to London’s Heathrow Airport. The moves signal heightened preparedness as regional volatility prompts swift consular action.
